Course Description
This year we will focus on
mastery of the Language Arts Common Core Standards in Reading, Writing and
Grammar. Our class will be an interactive adventure throughout the year, as we
learn new concepts and practice the skills that are directly related to mastery
of the Common Core Standards.
Academic Expectations
Our goal this year is to learn,
and that means our class will be a learning environment. Any supplies needed
for the day will be located on the supply table and should be collected by
students as soon as they walk in the room. Students should be in their seats,
silent, and ready to work as soon as the tardy bell
rings.
Behavioral Expectations
Our goal is to create a
productive and positive classroom environment. In order to do this, we must
respect all Reid Park Academy behavioral expectations. There is a zero-tolerance
policy for bullying in our classroom and in our school. Again, our goal this
year is to LEARN:
Listen
to directions the first time
Enter
and exit prepared
Always
try your best
Respect

Late Policy: Students are expected to turn
in all assignments to the designated area at the beginning of the class period.
Any late work will be deducted 10 points per school day.
For example, if a project that was due on a Wednesday
is turned in on the following Friday, the maximum grade it can receive is an 80
(2 days late, 20 points deducted).
If a student is
absent, he or she is responsible for speaking with the teacher and collecting
materials from the assigned area. The teacher WILL NOT track a student down to
give him or her late work. Students have one day for each day he or she is
absent to make up the work. For example, if a student misses three days of
class, he or she has three days to make up the
work.
